Ontario Physician IT Funding - eHealth

As hopefully all Physicians have heard by now another round of funding has been announced to help Physicians with their efforts to implement EMR solutions. What may not be as well known is that since the initial announcement subsequent updates to the terms & conditions have been made.

The two changes with the most impact are as follows:

NO REQUIREMENT to USE the EHEALTH ASP for Solo Physicians

Originally eHealth was insisting that solo Physicians use an eHealth ASP solution. This condition was ammended in mid-December.

A SINGLE DATABASE is Required for Funded Groups

The second change which is significant to groups is that in addition to 50% of the group having to select the same vendor you now must also share one database. This term change has been met with less enthusiasm than the first change. A group no matter how large must have all their patient data in one large database. Many groups are contemplating disbanding and re-forming smaller groups. Ask us how, we can help.
